The Three-Stage Self-Empathy Process™
Stage 1: Self-Awareness
Before you can understand anyone else, you need to understand yourself. This stage teaches you to catch your emotional reactions before they drive your decisions. You’ll learn how to notice what's happening inside you, in real time, so you can choose your response instead of defaulting to it.
Stage 2: Perspective-Taking
Most conflict doesn't come from bad intentions, it comes from misinterpretation. This stage teaches you to pause your first story about what's happening, ask better questions, and see situations more accurately. It's the difference between reacting and understanding.

Behind the framework
As a Doctor of Philosophy whose doctoral research examined the philosophy of emotion and moral psychology, I was always led back to one question. Why do intelligent, capable people so often get in their own way?
The answer, I found, was often this: a misunderstanding of empathy.
