EMPATHOS COACHING
Human Connection & Interpersonal Relationships
I use my research on empathy to help people better understand themselves and others, communicate more effectively, and build stronger relationships.
The Bigger Idea: Human Connection
We assume we know what someone meant. We read into a text. We hear a tone and decide what it means. We avoid a conversation because we think we already know how it's going to go.
Sometimes two people walk away from the exact same conversation with completely different ideas about what just happened.
That's the part of human behavior that interests me most. It's where empathy becomes useful, not as a feeling, but as a way of paying closer attention.
Being connected is not always the same as connecting.
Technology is not the enemy. It helps us meet people we never would have found. It lets us work with people across the world. It keeps families and friends close across distance.
But a dating app can introduce two people. It can't make them curious about each other. A message can reach someone instantly. It can't make sure they understood what we meant. A team can have every tool for communication and still feel misunderstood.
Technology can carry the connection. It can't do the human part for us.
The Empathos Approach
Grounded in research on empathy, emotion, and moral psychology, and translated into three steps that apply to any relationship.
Self-Awareness
Understanding your own emotions, reactions, assumptions, and patterns.
Perspective-Taking
Considering someone else's point of view, instead of relying only on your read of the situation.
Intentional Action
Turning that understanding into clearer communication and better decisions.
The result isn't a different personality. It's fewer assumptions, clearer conversations, and relationships that make more sense from both sides.
Three Ways to Work Together
Different situations. Same basic human problem. Find where you fit.
Personal Relationships
Partners, friends, and family. Misunderstandings, communicating when you're upset, and balancing someone else's perspective with your own.
Dating & Romantic Relationships
Modern dating, communication, relationship patterns, assumptions, and actually getting to know the person in front of you.
Workplaces & Organizations
The human relationships inside teams. Different perspectives, difficult conversations, listening, and how technology is changing how people work together.
Why Empathos
I completed my PhD in Philosophy. My research focused on empathy, emotion, and moral psychology, the study of how we understand each other and what happens after that understanding takes place.
That question never stayed in the classroom. It followed me into dating, friendships, family, and every workplace I've been part of.
I didn't move into this work because I had people figured out. I moved into it because I realized how complicated understanding another person actually is.
